Com-Pak Presort Services Announces Installation of 6th Commingling Sorter, Annual Capacity Reaches One Billion Pieces

Mail Services Provider Adds Capabilities as Demand for Commingling Solutions Grows

Moorestown, NJ – September 13, 2016 – Com-Pak Presort Services, a leader in commingling mail operations, today announced the installation of its sixth commingling sorter, bringing its annual capacity to one billion pieces.

Com-Pak Presort Services has experienced unprecedented growth with new business contracts and expanded relationships, leading to increased investment in equipment. The company regularly reduces customer postage costs by more than 10-percent using its sophisticated commingling process and logistics offering.  With postage being the largest single cost item to direct mailers, the demand for commingling continues to grow.

The new sorting equipment not only increases capacity, but adds the capability to apply a delivery point barcode via high speed inkjet onto mail pieces. “We have customers that like the look of the delivery point barcode ink jetted onto the mail piece for marketing reasons,” says Clif McDougall, CEO of Com-Pak Presort Services. “Our customers test and evaluate the performance of their direct mail campaigns frequently. When they find a technique that increases response, we want to offer that solution to meet their needs.”

The new equipment also gives Com-Pak added flexibility to correct or add delivery point barcodes if a mail piece does not scan properly or lacks a barcode. “This capability allows us to meet our customer’s needs and correct issues to ensure on time mailing,” said Dave Loudon, general manager of Com-Pak Presort Services.

Commingling mail eliminates sorting done by the United States Postal Service, giving customers a lower postage cost. This automated process allows customers to benefit from each other’s volume, creating large pools of five digit mail that are entered into the USPS Sectional Center Facilities (SCF’s). The company enters over 94-percent of its mail into the SCF’s, expediting the delivery of mail to final home addresses. Com-Pak now provides commingling services to letter shops, printers, major corporations, fundraisers, and advertising agencies.

Com-Pak Presort Services helped pioneer a process called single pass, and is one of the few who can take a multiple CAPS directly into its standard mail commingling pools, something large mailers increasingly demand. Compak Presort Services says thanks on Veterans Day

Veterans Day was originally celebrated to mark the end of World War 1 and was originally called Armistice Day. Now it is an opportunity to thank those who have served their country and preserved our Freedom.

So it is with great appreciation that we recognized each of our veterans, gave each of them a starbucks gift card and an American Flag Lapel pin. We asked each employee to thank their coworkers who have served.

So thank you to all of our veterans.

Throwback Thursday, how times have changed

How times have changed.  In 1847 there were 15,146 post offices and the post office delivered 124,173,000 pieces of mail.  By 1947 the number of post offices had increased to 41,751 and 37,427,706,000; that is 37 billion pieces of mail were delivered. Interestingly, in 2014 the number of post offices decreased to 26,669 while the number of pieces delivered went up to 155,375,000,000.

It is interesting to note that while the number of post offices has decreased the number of pieces in the mail has increased by over 100 billion pieces or 400%.  It would seem that the mail is not going away anytime soon!
